Roller Compacted Concrete

Achieve Structural Capacity of Conventional Concrete, at a Lower Price Point and with Faster Cure Times.

Cost effective alternative to traditional concrete, Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) offers the benefits of traditional concrete for certain applications at a lower cost and faster speed of construction.

PAVEMENT RECYCLING ALWAYS PUTS OUR CUSTOMER AND PRODUCT QUALITY FIRST

stay on schedule and budget

PRS has more experience with large-scale RCC work than any other contractor in California, and our commitment to always put the Customer and product quality first mean that we will not compromise our integrity or the integrity of the end-product for short-term gain. RCC is extremely sensitive to environmental and material changes, and experience and constant close observation during construction is critical to ensure that the product is consistent and of high quality.

Our RCC plant complies with the most stringent of California Air Quality laws and regulations.

YOUR IDEAL SOLUTION

RCC  is an ideal solution for pavement sections expecting heavy loading over sustained time periods, such as trucking/logistics facilities and warehouses, port loading areas, and heavy industrial neighborhood roads, but is also an effective solution for lighter traffic roadways when factoring in the extended design life.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • No reinforcement is necessary, and compressive strengths can be adjusted as necessary based on individual project needs to provide adequate structural capacity.
  • Typically, design life for an RCC pavement will range from 30-50 years with appropriate maintenance.
  • RCC is commonly used in combination with soil stabilization or cement-treated base as the underlying layer directly beneath the RCC. This provides a significantly longer design lift, and greatly reduces the chance of differential settlement below the RCC which could lead to premature cracking.
  • Surface texture can be modified depending on the end-user’s preferences. Options include diamond grinding for a more textured surface or finishing with trowels or brooms for a smoother surface. RCC can also be overlaid with a thin lift of HMA or other surfacing to further increase the design life of the pavement section.
why choose prs
Key Benefits
1
Mobile Production Plant
Allows for onsite production regardless of project location, enabling RCC as an option for even the most remote project sites.
2
Cost Savings
Cost savings relative to conventional concrete, while achieving similar compressive strength and structural capacity in pavement applications.
3
Quickly Open up to Traffic
High early strength of RCC allows opening up to light traffic very quickly (1 week or less) and heavier traffic or loading in as little as 2 weeks with the appropriate mix design.

OUR CUSTOMERS

Q: HOW DO PUBLIC AGENCIES AND ENTITIES BENEFIT?
A: Public agencies and entities, including municipalities and other entities such as ports and airports, may also realize long-term benefits through the use of RCC. When comparing the life-cycle cost of RCC to other pavement options, RCC will often prove to be the most effective choice based on cost and design life. It has been successfully utilized in applications ranging from the Port of Long Beach to local City roads in the City of Santa Fe Springs and the City of Roseville.
Q: HOW DO PRIVATE COMPANIES BENEFIT?
A: Many private companies can benefit from the use of RCC in pavement design, including logistics, shipping, trucking, railway, and other transportation companies. Many large-scale trucking companies use RCC in combination with soil stabilization when constructing new facilities or upgrading existing facilities, and other private companies with similar requirements such as railroads or shipping/logistics companies could also recognize significant cost savings by utilizing RCC at their facilities.
